One in five Hong Kong people live below the poverty line in Hong Kong. Even following policy interventions, the poor population stands close to 1,100,000, staying over 1 million for several consecutive years.
Given the situation in Hong Kong, we strive to equip local churches to practice Integral Mission in poor communities. Strategies include walking with the church bodies to develop the localisation of Integral Mission. We set up a ‘CEDAR Course’ for local church pastors and lay leaders to deepen their learning and practices of Integral Mission. After selection, we will offer seed funds for the students and their churches to carry out projects for community transformation.
Furthermore, in response to the alarming divorce rate of 62% in 2021, we are partnering with a local NGO to promote the church’s care for divorced families by providing fundamental training, case conferences and supporting counselling to frontline carers.
