Two and a half years after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine began, the war continues to cause massive destruction, escalating hostilities and widespread attacks on civilian infrastructure. Humanitarian conditions remain dire and have significantly worsened, particularly in northern regions near the border.
Around 40% of Ukraine’s population—approximately 14.6 million people—are in urgent need of humanitarian assistance, including around 4 million internally displaced persons and nearly 6.5 million refugees seeking safety worldwide. Since March 2024, attacks on energy infrastructure have caused prolonged power outages, affecting millions, while strikes on transport networks have disrupted vital services.
CEDAR supports our local partner’s ongoing relief efforts, which provide essential aid, including food, hygiene items, and other basic necessities, to vulnerable populations in the conflict-ridden northeastern regions of Ukraine. These efforts aim to alleviate the difficult living conditions faced by those affected by the war.
