Ukraine is east of Europe, bounded by Russia, Belarus and Poland. It is the second-largest country in Europe by land area, populated by over 40 million people. Ukrainians comprised more than 70% of the population. The official language is Ukrainian.
As the stalemated war in Ukraine continues and freezing winter weather sets in, Russia has used missiles and drones to attack Ukraine’s energy infrastructure that has knocked out power and water supplies. CEDAR supports our partner’s emergent shipments of food, hygiene, blankets, generators and other winter items from Slovakia to northern, eastern and southern Ukraine to help the vulnerable Ukrainians through the harsh winter. Targeted project locations will be those recently liberated areas. Our partner also provides winter assistance to the Ukrainians in Irpin, the key suburb of Kyiv, through house repair, provision of temporary housing units, etc.
