THE LETTER FROM CEDAR | JUL 2021

Dear supporters,

In just a year, I went from being the Acting Chief Executive of CEDAR to officially becoming the Chief Executive. Thanks to the trust of my colleagues and the board members, I have the opportunity to continue to assume the leadership role of the team. I am also grateful for the team’s concerted efforts. Even in the middle of COVID-19, we have been able to continue with our poverty alleviation project supervision and evaluation, as well as local fundraising, education and a series of activities and promotion work for the CEDAR’s 30th anniversary. We have also received the support and dedication we hoped for, so the projects and ministries supported by CEDAR have not been greatly affected by the pandemic. For this, I sincerely thank the team for their hard work and dedication.

This year marks the 30th anniversary of CEDAR. As the old saying goes, one is able to establish oneself at the age of thirty. In the past, we have left many footprints with our ministries and achieved a lot. We must count our blessings and be grateful for that. Over the years, CEDAR has laid a solid foundation for the future and acquired various abilities and experience in many areas. Looking ahead, our first priority is to know how to be more useful to the Lord, so that we can become His instrument through whom God revealed His glory and power, and bring blessings to more poverty-stricken individuals.

I would like to invite you to read the CEDAR’s 30th anniversary special issue – 10 Stories of God’s Transforming Power, and direct your attention to the protagonists’ stories and other purposeful designs in the booklet. A huge amount of time and thought has been devoted into each picture, photo and article. Our colleagues worked hard not only to make everything beautiful, but also to let our supporters better understand our vision and mission that have come to us while we worked alongside the poor.

In the days to come, I hope that the integral mission we are committed to promoting will cover more areas. In addition to actively responding to overseas needs as we have done in the past, we will carry out local ministries to enable more churches and organisations to join us in serving the poor, so that through practices, they can truly appreciate the integral mission to which God calls us. We are also exploring creative approaches and new ways to innovate our poverty alleviation and development ministries so as to overcome the shortcomings of traditional ministry models. I hope that all CEDAR’s friends will continue to support us, by participating in our ‘Beyond Feeding the Poor” campaign [1] with monetary contributions or by making fixed monthly donations [2], so that we can focus on carrying out ministries without worrying about insufficient funding. Please also pray for our ministry plans and direction.

[1] For details, please refer to the ‘Beyond Feeding the Poor’ Birthday Card (Chinese only).

[2] Please fill in ‘Monthly Donation Form’. For autopay, please fill in the Direct Debit Authorisation on the form and return the original to us.

In Christ,

Chan Pui Si
Chief Executive
