IMPACT STORY
Rabina, a 14-year-old girl, has endured many hardships since childhood. She grew up feeling unwanted and abandoned by both parents. Her mother eloped with another man, leaving her behind with her father, who later remarried. But his new marriage brought no improvement to her life. Neglected by her stepmother, Rabina was eventually taken in by her elderly grandparents.
Without an income, Rabina’s grandparents struggled to support her education. Recognising her vulnerability and risk of dropping out, the Community Support Centres Committee of our project recommended Rabina for a full scholarship package. Thanks to this support, she was able to continue her studies and is now in Grade 8, achieving strong academic results. Rabina shared that without such assistance, she would have had to leave school and become a child labourer.
Today, Rabina committed to her education. She attends school regularly, takes part in extra-curricular activities, and remains focused on her dream of becoming a Chartered Accountant. Her grandparents, who have lovingly cared for her, are deeply grateful for the support that brought new hope and a brighter future to their granddaughter.
The support Rabina received through SUS goes beyond financial aid. The love and care shown by her community, tuition class teacher, classmates and others have helped her feel seen and valued. She now knows she is neither abandoned nor forgotten. We hope and pray that more children like Rabina will be gently reminded that they are fearfully and wonderfully created by God – deeply loved and cherished.
